Online collaboration: LotusLive

Again the title is the link. This is a link to the actual site where you can purchase LotusLive. What I find interesting is they are molding email, online meetings and document collaboration all into one package. Google Wave is still in Beta and it is suppose to do just about the same thing. I wonder will the paid service or free win out? Are businesses ready to embrace the cloud? Will they switch from their current email client to a hosted service? I am going to explore a little deeper into this LotusLive and then compare it to Google Wave and others that are beginning to offer similar services. Stay tuned in for updates very soon. Google Wave

I received my invitation today for Google Wave. I have been waiting for months and like Windows7 it is now here. I am so excited and now I am waiting for the people I have invited to join in so we can start Waving.

Google Wave is in my opinion will reshape the way we communicate with our friends and co-workers. I think this is a step into the clouds. Cloud computing looks to be the next wave in technology and Google Wave is certainly helping us get there. I have just began to play with it and so far I am liking it.

Security in the "Cloud"

How can security be guaranteed? How will the confidence of the unknown be built? How can trust be built?



These are all questions I think will need to be answered in order to foster adoption of Cloud services. My thought is that for many organizations it will take time to shift from the current paradigm into a cloud solution. For myself it took a leap of faith in starting this blog. To know that my thoughts and ideas would be out on the Internet for all to see took a leap of faith. I think the same will be true for organizations. The market, and the push for greater efficiency, I believe will ultimately nudge organizations to the Cloud. The big concern will be reliability and security. Companies not only store their own data but they store information and profiles of their customers. Protecting this data will be paramount and any point of failure could cause huge issues for the company and its customers.

My initial thoughts on Cloud Computing

I see the "Cloud" as the future of computing. The Cloud will enable people and organizations to use resources across a distributed computer environment without large investments in infrastructure. Organizations will be able to leverage resources they may otherwise not have. The opportunity in the coming years will be endless. I am devoting this blog to developing ideas and strategies to help small and medium sized businesses leverage the power of the Cloud. I am also going to use this blog as a repository for my Doctoral research. Any advise or comments anyone may have is appreciated.
